The ‘Bacon Priest’, Fr. Werenfried van Straaten

Father Werenfried van Straaten was born on January 17 1913 in Holland. He is best known as the founder of the charity Aid to the Church in Need (ACN). Before he turned 20, he entered the Norbertine Abbey in Belgium. There he was ordained a priest and showed special concern for the suffering of the millions of German refugees after World War II.
