At the Crossroads of the Polio Wars
In northern India, polio is a rare but real threat to children. In this video, teams from Catholic Relief Services go out on the streets to talk to migrant parents about polio and vaccinate their children. Migrants are particularly vulnerable because they have no permanent homes and often miss out on door-to-door vaccination campaigns. At bus transit stops like this one, CRS teams carry refrigerated coolers with the oral drops, so they can give children the vaccine on the street.
Catholic Relief Services has joined forces with World Vision Inc. as a partner in the USAID-funded CORE Group Polio Project, collaborating with many international and local organizations to reach at-risk children.
