Behind-the-Scenes: To Be Born (Spanish Dubbing)

Take a behind-the-scenes look at the dubbing of the Spanish version of To Be Born. To properly dub a film means minimizing the “kung fu effect” (when the actors’ lips keep moving while there is no audible talking). To accomplish this, Amanda Lopez and Efrain Chavez read the Spanish translations of the lines in the same amount of time as the English line that is delivered onscreen. At the same time, Amanda and Efrain had to deliver their lines with the same passion and feeling that the actors originally did in the scene. Needless to say, it is not as easy as it looks to dub a film, and it took a long time to get it just right.
