Sacraments are outward signs of inward grace, instituted by Christ for our sanctification (Catechismus concil. Trident., n. 4, ex St. Augustine, “De Catechizandis rudibus”).
From St. Thomas we have the short but very expressive definition: The sign of a sacred thing in so far as it sanctifies men – “Signum rei sacrae in quantum est sanctificans homines” (III.60.2).
Sep 03 – Homily: Holy Labor
Fr. Elias preaches on the life of St. Gregory the Great and his stress on confession. He also mentions that today is Labor Day and how the Church focuses not only on eternal life with the sacraments, but is also concerned with this life and building up Christian civilization here and now. He then relates this to the liturgy and then to other human activities, adding teaching from the Church’s social encyclical Rerum Novorum.

Ascension & Mission: Martyrs to the ends of the earth!
http://CatholicHack.com/ It was a great honor for me to give this talk at ONE ministry — ” An Evening of Praise and Worship” in Houston, Texas. With the gift of the presence of Christ comes the task to be his martyrs, His witnesses, to HIS brethren to the ends of the earth. Let us stop looking up and storing up, and begin living up to our mission to live for Christ today, learning our faith, living our faith, and sharing our faith.
