Aug 29 – Homily: St John, Precursor to Baptized Christians
Today we commemorate the martyrdom of St. John the Baptist and Fr. Elias preaches on how St. John was precursor of Christ not only in what he said in his life but how he died for what he preached just like Christ. Thus, he also makes the perfect precursor of an exemplary Christian.

Aug 29 – Homily: The Greatest of the Prophets
It is not right for you to have your brother’s wife. We must be apostles of the truth. Telling those we know that they are living contrary to the Truth, with love and understanding. We must imitate John the Baptist, and die for the Truth.

Verbum Caro Factum Est – Gregorian Chant, Catholic Hymns
This Chant responsory is from the Gospel according to St. John. The image is of St. Padre Pio receiving Holy Eucharist. The Latin and English follow:
Verbum caro factum est et habitavit in nobis.
Et vidimus gloriam eius, gloriam quasi Unigeniti a Patre, plenum gratiae et veritatis.
In principio erat Verbum, et Verbum erat apud Deum, et Deus erat Verbum.
Et vidimus…
Gloria Patri, et Filio, et Spiritui Sancto.
Et vidimus…
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. (John 1:14)
And we have beheld His glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John 1:14)
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (John 1:1)
And we have beheld His glory…
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
And we have beheld His glory…
