Hodie Christus Natus Est, O Sapientia – Catholic Christmas Songs

A couple of short Messianic Christmas hymns and salutations. The lyrics for each follow:

Hodie Christus natus est: hodie salvator apparuit:
Hodie in terra canunt angeli, laetantur archangeli:
Hodie exultant justi, dicentes: gloria in excelsis Deo: Alleluia.

O Sapientia, quae ex ore Altissimi prodiisti,
attingens a fine usque ad finem,

Today Christ is born: Today the Saviour appeared:
Today on Earth the Angels sing, Archangels rejoice:

This is a Christmas chant which has been adapted to a polyphonic / homophonic melody. The background image is Bartolome Esteban Murillo’s “Adoration of the Shepherds”. Here follows the English and Latin words to this shortened version:

O magnum mysterium, et admirabile sacramentum,
ut animalia viderent Dominum natum,
