iPhone Examination of Conscience
Hey Everyone,
I just thought some of you may find this interesting. A few months ago my wife Laurie purchased an iPhone for me as a birthday gift. Ever since, I’ve been trying to find a way to use it to the benefit of my spiritual life.
One of the things I tend to do is use an examination of conscience for Confession and really like this one by Father Robert Altier.
So I converted the pdf to text, sorted it into an excel file, imported it into a mySQL database, and wrote a cakePHP application that uses the iui library to create an iphone examination of conscience.
You can check it out here. (don’t worry it works in regular browsers too).
There are 3 main pages, mortal sins, venial sins, and the ones you have comitted. On the iphone you can tap any sin on the mortal or venial page, and it will be added to the comitted. Any sin tapped on the comitted page will be remove.
I used it this past weekend and it is much nicer to go into confession with an iphone than 9 pages of paper ( hey it’s the “green” thing to do ).

It was really cool to use it in confession this past weekend, and walk out of confession knowing that I had really done a good examination of conscience before going in.
Love the idea. I am about to be received into the Church this year and have the task of preparing for my First Confession.
How do I download the iphone version to my iphone? Is that possible?
