Church Provides Sanctuary To Illegal Alien
Fox News contributor Father Jonathan Morris discusses a Chicago church, Adalberto United Methodist Church, that is providing sanctuary to an illegal immigrant,Flor Crisostomo. This is the same church that gave sanctuary to another illegal immigrant last year, before her deportation.

I am troubled when Catholics are so dismissive of other people as to focus entirely on their legal status, and to see these people in such inhuman terms. I have heard Catholics refer to these immigrants as “swarming” like insects and “breeding” like rabbits. They are called “vermin” and “plague.” This is sinful. As Catholics, our first and primary way of relating to other people should be that of Jesus himself. Jesus did not make any exceptions when he said, “Whatever you do to the least of my brothers, you do to me.” At the judgment, Jesus really won’t be swayed by protests about the law of the land. He’s just going to repeat what he said in the Gospel, “Whatever you did–or refused to do–for the least person, you did–or refused–to me.” There is a real need for repentance on this matter. Let us not sell our souls for the sake of our borders.
Sister Anne,
I would have to agree with you. While I think that a nation should have the right to control its borders(to keep people who want to be terrorists or perform violent crimes out), letting people into a country, paying them small wages and treating them like slaves, and then getting upset that they are here when you begin to think that too many have gotten in, is a pretty bad idea.
Ideally, I would like to see the United States apply pressure to the Mexican government to end all of the corruption. There are too many stories of people who try to start businesses in Mexico who say they have to bribe, local and federal officials, along with law enforcement officers.
Its a really sad situation. The worst thing that can happen though is that we begin to treat these badly and justify it by saying that they are “illegals”. Its almost like creating a sudo-caste system that countries like India have had, where anyone who is an illegal is treated as one of the “untouchables” are.
We have to come together and realize that we are the body of Christ, and that a simple line(like the US-Mexico border) should not be the difference between hope and opportunity, or despair and disgrace.
God bless this Church!
My friend posted this site on our forum and I was so happy that a site like this was on the internet, that is until I saw this video. How shameful to use a Catholic website to engender racism and contempt for the poor. Oh but they’re not our poor or our citizens, right? These are people just like you and me. Why isn’t this priest or the so-called Catholics on this website advocating for universal health care or raising the minimun wage? Perhaps because this website is an extention of the Republican party? Where is the other side?
Dear Anonymous,
This site is no extension of the Republican Party. If you send me a video that has something to do with commentary referring to Democrats in any relation to the Catholic Church, I’ll gladly post it.
The reason this video is on here is because someone posts all of Fr. Jonathon Morris’ videos from Fox News on YouTube.
If you find videos of a Catholic Priest on MSNBC, CNN, or any other news station speaking about things like healthcare or minimum wage I will be glad to post it.
In Christ,
Travis
P.S. The church is neither Republican or Democrat, but universal.
